Kueh Raya Preparation

28th to 31st August 2010 saw my house, especially the kitchen to be a center of kueh raya making activities. 2 younger sister-in-law and their families came over with all the necessary ingredients for the making of Hari raya pastries. As the house owner, we only have to provide the oven and other utensils to make things happen.

MAKING KUEH MAAMOR

ONE RAYA PASTRY ALREADY PACKED

AFTER 4 DAYS PREPARATION WITH LOTS OF PASTRIES ALREADY BEING CONSUMED

Yours truly was blessed to entertain these beautiful and loving nephews and nieces.

Selamat Hari Raya Idilfitri Maaf Zahir Batin in advance..as daylight will see us Gganu bound ..

Kalau ada jarum yang patah
jangan di simpan didalam peti
kalau ada silap dan salah
jangan disimpan di dalam hati

Have a fantastic days ahead wherever you are.. take care.

Dear Ayoh Wang,
That pantun is one of the best. It is my fervent hope Malaysians will embrace pantun again. As it will automatically bring grace and charm into our life.

You visited four blogs of mine today. I am honoured and blessed. I hope my postings brought some cheer and perhaps insight.

I am afraid making Biskut Raya is way beyond me. Kuih Raya Ringgit Malaysialah my salvation.

Selamat Hari Raya Maaf Zahir Batin from us, we will be in Rantau Panjang.

By the way, the lives of Islam heroes from the past is one of my favourite topics of reading and research. The Caliphs, the academics, the travellers and the fierce warriors...they earned worldwide recognition and thus the Muslim world was revered and respected.

Ayah Wan,
The best hari raya gift from you is your unexpected first visit to our home. You took all he trouble to find us, making it more meaningful to us. And we could not even offer ou a drink. Now that you know the way, just past the bridge, we can expect more casual visits from you.
It is our pleasure to get to know you two.
Selamat Hari Raya

Ayoh Wang,
Ni kucing nak berpantun juga.

Jarum disimpan di dalam peti,
Takut lupa berkarat nanti;
Jika disimpan di dalam hati,
Silap dan salah tak dapat dimaafi.

EID MUBARAK!!!!

Glad to see pantun is picking up, even DownUnder.

No problem Ayoh Wang. Though I have left Seri Puteri a long time ago, I hear my name mentioned from time to time as the gymnast crazy senior and my books are still being distributed by a good friend to help the younger juniors with their English. Sadly the book FROm tHE wRITTEN sTONE is no longer in the bookstores. Otherwise, I know a fan who would also buy a few?

Anyway, you can buy From THe Gathering. My publisher just sent the final layout which I am editing one last round.

Selamat Hari Raya. Good to know you visited Pakcik. Rudi and I hope we will be able to do so sometime too.

Isn't this wonderful, our blogging community?

BTW, did you see that awful TV3 advert on Hariraya?

Ida,
Ha..ha, tak tau bila nak sampai kat Kucing lagi.. As a technical O&G guy.. Kucing is less likely to be our meeting place..
Yang mustahaknya is the thought kan?
Thank you and have a fantastic hariraya with your loved one..

Wan Sharif said...

Dear Abang Hassan and Kak Salmah,
Like I said you are the first blogger to "hulurkan jemputan" and I felt obligated to fulfill the jemputan as I have the time.
There is not much trouble.. I was so used to getting lost on the road.. my family just got immune to it.. although they were at times discouraged I kept on telling them "how wonderful is our host to be" and "peoples outside Malaysia can find you how can a fellow Trengganu guy can not do the same"..etc.
Sincerely it has been our pleasure as well.. Again selamat hari raya to both of you and the "anak cucu".

Wan Sharif said...

Dear CiS,
Wow now even the Cats are into pantun.. no wonder Ninot is so glad.
Ok lah Ayoh Wang cuba jawab balik

Takut lupa berkarat nanti
tercucuk jari hingga tersemat
Silap salah tak dapat dimaafi
hingga tertegak dendam kesumat

Ha, now it is getting heavier..eh!

Please forgive me for discussing one clever cat down under without your prior permission..
selamat hari raya to angelina, brad and other cats.., your mom and family.. Oh, how is your uncle getting on? getting very much better insyaAllah

Wan Sharif said...

Ninot,
Yeah, 3 of us (my wife, me & our daughter) went to visit Pakcik in Pengkalan Marang.. I am sure you gonna love their place.. facing the sea with a bridge linking the main house and the library..(macam KLCC pulak.. the bridge I mean).
We did wonder how our mutual blogger friend can maintain so many good blogs.. Pakcik was (at least that was what he said) about to finish the afternoon class when we arrived at his place.. we nearly deprived them the time to prepare for their iftar.. ha..ha..
Look like I has been rather naughty to your Pakcik..
Oops did not manage to see that awful TV3 advert yet..

Salam Lebaran Ayoh Wang. A really lively kitchen of yours to my envy. Mine is still quiet with no hint of any apparent baking activities as all those beautiful pastries and wonderful cookies were already imported from the our neighbour's kitchen :)

Eid mubarak buat Ayoh Wang sekeluarga, maaf zahir batin.

Waa'laikum salam DrSam,
Being the eldest of the three daughters living in Lembah Kelang, my better half has revived this small tradition which reminds me of my younger days in Pulau Duyong.. my mother making kueh raya with her two younger sisters ..
BTW, the two sisters (my SIL) have stayed with us before going off on their own with their spouses.. I guess that make it easier.. they already have previous experiences before...

Wan Sharif said...

Dear Martin Lee,
Thank you for your kind wishes..
Selamat menziarahi rumah kawan kawan di Kemaman masa hari raya ni...,
If you manage to go and visit that mutual friend of ours this Hari raya please convey my regards and tell him that I could not stop at his place since I am carrying a bed ridden MIL with me to KL..

Dear Ayoh Wang,

Thank you for the shout out. I too left a hastily penned pantun.

In poet blogsphere, we are upset with the recent Burn The Koran movement. Please read my friend's post if you have the time...
http://staffordray.blogspot.com/2010/09/burn-bible-day.html

The advert on TV3 was duly removed I believe from TV and Youtube.

Pakcik's library sounds divine!

Wan Sharif said...

Dear Ninot,
Would have answered your comment earlier if not for some restriction on blogging at workplace..
Seems that CiS has been spreading cat's pantun skill at http://sherry-nor.blogspot.com/2010/09/salam-lebaran.html..
Interessant non?
