It is not fair

Those were the words she said..

I told her that since she did not fast for the whole month, last Ramadhan.. she need to "qadha” those days that she did not fast.
"No, I wanted to but I cannot" she said.
Then she repeated those words and asked me to accompany her in her fast..
That was my 15 years old daughter talking to me on her first time “qadha puasa” and that was how I got started in my preparation for Ramadan.. on fasting issue at least ;).

I remembered I have met a good friend in Kerteh (when I was there for the whole of 2005), we compared note on our development in Taddarus. We sort of compete with each other then.. I accomplished a record of sort for myself and to-date I have yet to be anywhere near that record any Ramadhan since ;((

Picture is from Mr Google

Most of you would not be too surprised with our children’s sense of fairness.
I would not be surprised if most of youngsters think differently on that Bersih issue.
Now that Titiwangsa has lost its MP, it would be interesting to find out the effect of our Prime Minister visit to Vatican and the effect of recent Bersih issue.

I was searching an image for the title when I came across the song of same title sung by Dinah Washington (somebody believed in 1950) here
If that was not too agreeable you can try Billy Eckstine

I can sure write a lot more on recent happening but I would rather heed to what Syeikh Mohammad Rashid Redha have said on Khilafiah
" We work together on things we have agreed upon, and mutually walk away from things that we differ."

IMHO, political topics are not easy for a group of people to agree upon..

Have a nice day.

Ayoh Wang,
Try complaining the same to Mama and she'll come back with: Life in itself IS unfair. How do you argue with that? har har har *evil laughs*

everything i hear or learn now is mostly from my children. it was very good of you to teman your daughter in her qadha fasting. you are a very special dad. sometimes i want to talk politics but really it is just a want, somehow i really do not care. whether that is a responsible attitude or not, i am not sure.

politics... while we fight for a better world, we act like not wanting it.

fairness is a matter of perception. what's fair to you may not be fair to me and likewise. that's why we hv to find middle ground. unfortunately, not many people want to think rationally, because when you are rational you don't hv the need to fight.. and lots of people just love to fight just for the heck of it. that in itself is the saddest thing of all.

CfS dearest,
Life in itself is unfair... mm... on the surface that's might be true but Albaqarah:216 "... But it is possible that ye dislike a thing which is good for you, and that ye love a thing which is bad for you. But Allah knoweth, and ye know not."
That said.. life is fair in final analysis.. Non?! ;)).

Aishah dearest,
Thank you again for your ever so kind comments. On politics, I do discuss a little bit of it within my family when something need to be straightened out.
Things like allegation without required prerequisites (e.g. zina allegation without bringing four "just witness" as required by HIM - which might pollute our faith should we believe it) need to be told to our children.. so that they will not spread the allegation which the BOOK say .. "those who can bring the 4 witnesses required are liars in the sight of Allah".
Other than that I hold my peace.

Dearest TTD,
We fight for the better world.. our ideal ..
We act like not wanting it.. our self interest/agenda..

Lady Kama Dearest,
What you have commented are so true that I can only say we shall try our best all the same and at the same time heed to what Syeikh Mohammad Rashid Redha have said on Khilafiah above.
Thank you for giving your thought on the subject.. merci bien :)

Hi Wan Hashin, I fully agree on your, "....political topics are not easy for a group of people to agree upon.".
I tend to steer far away from politics and religion....

Surprised to learn PM da pergi Vatican? Wonder what the Pope will chat with him.
Have a nice day.

You fasted with her? You are too good a father.

I would give her ten rotan for each day! It would be double the following year. How about that Ayah Wang?

Dearest Brother Lee,
A Chinese friend at workplace said there were Chinese who lost out when Tun Abdul Razak went and shook hand with Chairman Mao Tze Tung and he believed the Chinese will not fall into the same trap when Tun Razak's son went and shook hand with the Pope..
Oops..

Salam Abang Hassan,
Yes I fasted with her for 2 days to give her some moral support. She always found it difficult to be religiously good. Her school friends are not helping her cause.. trying their level best to make her break her fast ;((
Would not be following your advice on use of rattan yet.. have to tread it carefully with her after all Eve was made from a "bent bone" and I better heed to that old Malay proverb.. "menarik rambut di dalam tepong" ;))

Ayoh Wang... do make sure that this year's 'kodo' is done in Syawal no further... will be merrier... say it 'proser nang'... the sunak and the wajik, permissibly two in one, it works insyaAllah... hehe... my 2.5 cents...

Wan Sharif said...

YohTeh dearest,

I read somewhere today that the middle ground in Malaysian politics is too narrow and that polarization is a huge problem and obstacle in our beloved country.

I too have steered away from discussing politics - but I have a feeling I am doing injustice to ourselves. The voice of reason and balance must be heard too.

Bulan puasa, Ramadan, is my favourite month and this is what I have tried to instill in my girls. The mindset is VERY important. With that they will embrace Ramadan better. Irani and Ilena are seasoned 'fasters' at 10 and 7 respectively. We are introducing to Ikesha puasa sekerat hari this year. She's five but we have a secret weapon - it's called Ipad...

Ninot dearest,
You are right about Malaysian political environment. I strongly agree with you on the need for the voice of reason and balance to be heard... too much unreasonableness of late d'apres moi..
On bulan puasa, your comment and your action reminded me of times when my sibling and I trying to learn puasa although we have no Ipad, my parent allows us free rein on how we handle our free time.. me? I spent it playing with my friends all over the Pulau Duyong..menjalin silaturRahim (read: painting the island a light red ha..ha..)
Selamat mengimarahkan Ramadhan, may Ramadhan bring you and your loved ones closer to Allah's pleasure and Magfirah
